Merry Christmas!
As we write this letter we are trying to wrap up loose ends here at our home in Managua and are preparing to travel north to Washington State to enjoy the Christmas holiday with family and friends. As we look ahead to the festivities and fun of visiting and celebrating the season we always want to keep our focus on the true meaning of the season and greatest gift of all – Jesus.
Just last night we enjoyed our 2nd annual youth night Christmas dinner with the youth and young adults from our community. About 55 were in attendance and they received a delicious dinner, chocolate brownie sundaes for dessert and a little gift bag of candy. We even had a band to provide live entertainment. After dinner we had a candle lighting service with the band singing Noche de Paz (Silent Night). It was beautiful. They heard a message about the Light of the World – God’s gift to us, and were encouraged to consider accepting this Light into their lives. As they received their gift bag they were also reminded that God is offering them the gift of eternal life just as we are offering them this small gift. If they don’t take the gift it can never be realized and enjoyed. Just knowing about it and hearing about it isn’t enough. In order to experience the joy of life with Christ the gift must be accepted. It is our prayer that this message touched even one heart, maybe many more, and that heaven is rejoicing over another heart given to God. We are looking forward to starting up our regular youth night meetings again in January after we return and the opportunity to continue in relationship with these young folks. Even though we may never see the fruit it is a joy to plant seeds and nurture them through our time spent in fellowship with these youth. Please remember them in your prayers.
We remember you all in our prayers, as well, and thank God for your friendship and support. We pray that this Christmas finds you all remembering the incredible gift that has been offered to you and that Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, is central in your hearts and celebrations this season.
Have a wonder-filled Christmas holiday and a happy New Year, too!
Joy to the world! The Lord has come!
Happy Birthday Jesus!
Christmas Love,
Halle and Kathy
Nica Night – A Nibble of Nicaragua
Just a reminder… for those of you from the northwest…
Please join us for our annual Nica Night.
We are planning to set up a small Nicaraguan market with some beautiful and unusual Nicaraguan artisan craft items. A light “nibble” will be provided and we’re looking forward to sharing a little about our ministry.
We hope to see you there!
